Two vintage pins from Martha Sleeper's Chinese collection. Carved Bakelite or Catalin figurals in the form of a horse and a (probably) girl. (Seems more feminine than a boy) Flowers are the pattern on both pieces, ostensibly white lotus blossoms although the effect makes you think pink cherry blossoms (white blooms but the pink is so cherry-rose) Not sure if it's supposed to be a Ming horse or not.
Girl or boy is 2-3/4" Horse is 2-1/4" As noted in condition report: Jacket or kimono has faded to a much paler pink than horse's paint. Also, her pinstem is bent, as is the c-clasp. They are fairly well preserved for being so old. Featured as book pieces in the upcoming book on Martha Sleeper.
Two special pieces for the Martha Sleeper collector. Her jewelry was unsigned, but these are guaranteed to be Martha Sleeper creations.
