Rare Vintage Lucite Sterling Jelly Belly Face Figural Pin Brooch Jewels Masterpc

Spectacular figural face brooch Lucite face with gilt sterling coiffure, adorned with gorgeous jewels. The jewel-tone gems are in multiple shapes and rich hues, contrasting beautifully with the pave-set crystals. The carved-Lucite face is attached onto heavy sterling via posts from the metal into drilled holes in clear Lucite. A former owner also glued the two pieces together. All jewels present and all appear to be original.

There is a small rough spot on the sterling. The gilding has mellowed with 70+ years of age and has a patina.

The smooth, liquid Lucite is very good. There are some tiny lines or nicks, one of which might be a dimple; the others are not, but are small, and one is on the reverse.

There is a carving line along her jaw; hard to tell if it is there intentionally or not, if meant to delineate her face from neck. It might not be, but can't tell for sure.

In some ways she seems related to the Showgirl head by (originally) Black Starr & Gorham. She is a fraction under 2-1/2 Marked Sterling.
