Bright Cherry Lipstick Red Bakelite Poppy Flower Pin Brooch Antique 1920's Gem

Cheery bright red bakelite poppy floral brooch. Rich transparent lipstick or cherry red jello color.

Petals have the cutest scalloped edges. Handmade or hand sewn onto the perforated plastic disk backing.

Center is complete with red glass bead and tiny seed beads accents. Ready and waiting for your lapel , collection, or gift giving - you will love this! Red poppies traditionally symbolize love, remembrance, and sacrifice. They are placed on the graves of fallen soldiers in remembrance.

Also, in Asian countries, red poppies alternatively symbolize success and good fortune, as well as romantic love. Authentic true antique / vintage piece. MARKINGS : None that I could find. METAL / MATERIAL : Bakelite, glass beads, plastic backing, cotton looking thread, and metal hardware. CLASP / CLOSURE : Simple "C" catch clasp.

MEASUREMENTS : Aprox 1 3/4 in diameter. 6.9 grams on my scale.

TESTING : Petals test to be positive for bakelite material with the Simichrome method. INVENTORY NUMBER OR NOTE : x. Vintage condition - given the age and collectibility. Pieces look to all be present - but an area of stitching has loosened, leaving one petal literally hanging by a thread. I would plan to re-sew / restore if pin in intended to be worn to avoid any loss.
