Rare! Original Vntg Bakelite Figural Pin Hitch Hiker Brooch College Man Suitcase
Old Bakelite pin made in'30s-'40s. This is the famous college hitch hiker, one of which is shown on the cover of the book Bakelite Pins. The college boy hitchhiker brooch, a famous book cover piece, is 2-3/4 large.
He looks great but is far from perfect. Appears to have had white paint repainted (it looks thick in some places). Has shallow surface hairlines and a deeper scratch across his face. Perhaps experts at Bakelite repair could sand out. The pennant or whatever it is supposed to be on his carryall appears to have been repainted too.
The pinstem is corroded on back and some of its metal discoloration leeched onto the Bakelite on back only. Still, an amazing and rare guy!
