I did not attempt it as I didn't want to damage them in anyway. The one real flaw is the that one of the two of these has a broken hook clasp therefor the pin can't hook and close. Please see last photo to get an idea. If I were keeping these pins, I would just glue a new pin element next to the broken one that already exists. I'm sure a jeweler could replace it as well.
